Peru's squid industry has reached a sustainable fishing agreement with the government

The National Squid Association of Peru (CAPECAL) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Peruvian Institute of Oceanography (IMARPE) to promote, encourage and support sustainable squid fishing in Peru.

CAPECAL President Gerardo Carrera said the annual production of Peruvian squid in the Pacific Ocean is about 900,000 tons, which may seem like a lot, but it is not in light of the huge global demand for Peru squid.
